Not sorry to see first pair gone....although I was a fan when he was on Survivor. I think
his season was the last time I watched Survivor. That is a program that should have
been put out of its misery many seasons ago, IMO.

The first team to be eliminated was a former TAR team. Rupert and his wife finished in tenth probably many hours behind the team that finished ninth. Rupert and his wife also should not have been cast but CBS loves Rupert.

Survivor is great. Lots of changes from the early days and lately they've been trying out a lot of new editing and storytelling styles which have really helped keep the show fresh. Sometimes they don't work but Jeff has been listening to fans and they make changes. I find the lack of fan interaction one of TARs biggest weaknesses. This season will be different because Survivor and especially BB fans are very active on social media.

Was there much activity on social media a couple of seasons ago on TAR when
the racers were social media personalities? As I recall, it was determined
there was no appreciable viewership bump, so the crossover didn't work in that
direction.

But did viewers know who those people were? I sure didn't. I think this is a lot different but with the huge delay in broadcasting this season from when it was actually shot, the big last minute change in when it would air, etc. are not going to help the ratings. I know some people were really caught off guard when CBS out of the air said they were going to start airing the season within a few weeks. They also should have cast stronger Survivor teams. Corrine and Eliza are gold for drama but that doesn't mean they'll be good at the race. Casting Rupert was a total waste. Unless the next leg is one of the non-elimination ones he should be gone. Hopefully a bunching point doesn't save him!
