Thanks, a nice December gift (and besides your posting, the date is nice
too).

That seems rather late, so it must run into the summer.

I doubt it will into the summer. CBS will want it over with by the time BB19 starts. If they have an episode every week this should be very doable and probably good for TAR. The seasons where they have breaks after the first few episodes air kills the momentum of the show.

You may want to recalculate.

A 12-episode season starting on April 21st with no breaks will end on July 7th. Since the first episode is a two-hour special, it's possible that the season will only last 11 weeks which means it will end on June 30th. However, it is not confirmed that the two-hour show will consist of two legs of the race.

The new season of Big Brother is anticipated to begin in late June, 2017.

So, unless CBS pushes back Big Brother or shortens TAR's schedule, there will be at least a little overlap. And, from CBS's point of view ending TAR and beginning BB at roughly the same shouldn't cause any issues.

Without spoiling things too much, I'm expecting the first 2 hour episode to just be the first leg. Given the nature of the people chosen for TAR 29 and the special twist (God help us, another special twist), they will need more time than usual for introductions and time for the special twist to be implemented.
