The exchange rate for the zloty is about twenty-five cents, so 100 zloty
is US$25. The twenty-zloty note is worth about US$5. That's strikes me
as a pretty generous tip for buskers. I'll readily toss some change if a
performer is halfway able, but they'd have to be truly exceptional for me
to pull out a single.

In general, I hate the begging in some tasks....it doesn't do anything for the
"ugly American" image.

As to the episode, seeing Schindler's office and the tribute to those he saved
brought tears to my eyes, too.

Yeah, they should get rid of all the make-money-from-locals tasks.

The practice of street performers passing the hat is widespread and very old.
If the racers' task was something that locals also occasionally do in those
places, then I don't have a problem with it. For example, if they were asked
to go into the NYC subway and learn a routine that involved banging on plastic
buckets and doing a break dance until they had gotten $20 from passersby.

It helps to remember that people walking past don't just see a couple of
Americans acting goofy and begging for money. They see a couple of Americans
acting goofy and begging for money while being filmed for television. I think
that context changes things a little bit. Just about every television market on
the planet has some kind of show where "everyday" people perform stunts for
some kind of reward.
