I like her. IN the beginning, she barely said anything, but more and more
she's taking her place. I could live without him, though.

Gotta say, it's one of the best and most tense finishes TAR's ever had.

It looked like the Cheerleaders were in sight of the mat when the Green Team's
penalty expired, but was that just the editing? We've seen three-team sprints
to the mat complete with bumping and tripping, so while tonight was exciting,
I don't know how high it would rank among the all-time best.

I'm glad the Green Team wasn't eliminated. Given their performance, they
deserve to be in the final. Justin may be slightly annoying, but there have
been far, far, bigger jerks on TAR. And I think the right team lost. I know
the Cheerleaders have generally been ahead of the Paparazzi, but Logan,
and especially Chris, have been racing better in recent episodes. Race legs
in India are always harder, Chris has been sick, and yet they overcame a
U-turn to beat Denise and James.

Again we see another team almost done in by "bad taxi." I think anybody
planning to be on The Amazing Race needs to develop tactics for recognizing
and countering "bad taxi." That may include deciding to abandon a taxi and get
another, and would require getting over the sunk cost fallacy. (Which is what
contributed to Chris & Ricks' demise as they waited at that bus stop.)

I thought it was editing, but I"m not sure. I felt for certain that the
Green Team would get eliminated, with that 55 minute penalty, so I find it
hard to believe that their penalty ran out immediately before the last
team arrived.

I thought it wsa interesting that the previous teams were standing around
at the mat talking when the Green Team arrived, so we could see the other
contestants roll their eyes and such, that almost seemed staged.

I don't think we've had a man on the show that cried like that, merely at
the thought of being eliminated.

This was one instance where I did see the penalty coming, I guess the show
gave it away, because when they were told there were two ferries, and the
driver took them to the closer, I thought they were doomed.

The ending is highly suspicious.

The first two teams were still talking to Phil when Team Green showed
up. That's plausible. Phil probably talks to them for about 15 minutes
but then to stay on the mat for another 55?!

Perhaps the penalty was reduced or eliminated. Did they really have to
take a particular boat? Did not hear it like that.

Or a more likely theory is that they brought back the 2 other teams just
to get their opinion of who is all racing to the final.

Superfan Justin messed up couple times today. He probably should have
asked someone where to go when they finished the cell phone thing, the
bad cab and then the boat. Bad kharma I'm telling you.

I think there are 2 episodes left.

No, I'm sure they said the finale is next week. There are only three
teams, and that should leave only the finale. It looks jampacked, and the
sorts of things we see at the last minute, multiple things to keep
changing the order of the teams.

Nope. Just one. The finale is Friday, December 11.

Only 12 eps this season? Feels slighted. Thought maybe 1st ep was double
but no.

The clue made it clear. The specified type of tickets that weren't
available at the other terminal also should have been a big warning
they were doing it wrong.

Agreed. I doubt they were talking that long.

Ah, but if they hadn't stayed, we would have missed Phil's snarky "Didn't expect that, did you?" comment.

They read the clue as "Take the Hong Kong ferry." They went to the Kowloon terminal, not the Hong Kong terminal. The driver even mentioned there was a Hong Kong terminal, but they opted to go to the closer Kowloon. Oops.

It seemed really obvious to me, and a lot of the time I do miss detail
when watching tv.

And even if location didn't matter, wasn't it the "express ferry", and
when they went to buy a ticket they got some other type?

They weren't told to "take the ferry" they were told to take a specific
ferry, which might not be obvious, except when you discover there's more
than one.

Apparently they were to take "Premier Class", which is available from Hong Kong but not Kowloon. I'm not sure what the difference is--the seating looked pretty much the same to me.

Yes, they had multiple clues that they were in the wrong place. Why
they decided to go ahead and get on that ferry instead of traveling to
the other one I don't know. They clearly didn't consider the penalty
option given their reaction at the mat so maybe the race finally got
to them and they just got tunnel vision on the idea of a ferry and
went for the closest even when all the signs were that there that they
were taking the wrong ferry.

We normally see what caused the penalty. It's amazing they could
recover from a penalty this late in the game. I rather suspect the
problem came down to not being able to wear contacts in the pool and
having poor vision without them. I can't see how she could have done
that badly otherwise.

The Cheerleaders WERE done in by a bad taxi--he dropped them off in the wrong place. It looks like they weren't that far off, and that they missed beating Green's penalty by not so much; had the driver dropped them in the right place, maybe they would have just squeaked in.
