Have to say that I'm actually excited with the cast reveal for the first time in ages. Looks like all real people to me. Wow!

I was going to sort of watch because it is on and my wife watches. However, after seeing that video (Thanks Brian for posting it) I will be paying much closer attention this time. It looks like an interesting thing to have all first timers and first meeters :) and I am looking forward to it.

Cheers... Bob

They had that blind date season but IIRC it was just five of the teams. This sounds a lot more random even though we all know that they will pair up people based on what will create the most drama/entertainment. This sounds so much better than whatever it was they did last time (social media "stars"?) that I found so appealing I gave up after a few episodes.

A few months back I said they needed the 2 hour episode for the first leg because they would need more time than usual for introductions. That's because I knew it was 22 individuals and not 11 teams and that the starting line task and picking teams would take time. Apparently I was wrong about the need for 2 hours since they are scheduled for one hour (unless they break the first leg into 2 episodes, the starting line stuff and then the first destination). I didn't want to spoil it for you so I was being vague and cryptic.

At the time the contestants were being spoiled (not my doing), my impression was that the cast was heavily weighted towards military, policemen and firemen, but watching the introductory video, it didn't seem that way. I'm looking forward to this season, even though I expect there will be a few teams that are bickering train wrecks (and I have no spoiler knowledge about that). It's been too long since the last season.

I think the original two-hour episode was actually the first two episodes merged into one. When CBS had to make unexpected changes to the schedule and move TAR up by three weeks they probably decided to break those first two episodes apart to help fill the extra weeks they need to cover.

I found it interesting that this intro video focused solely on the racers and there was no mention of where the race would be going. I can't recall them doing that before. Focusing on the cast is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Lately TAR has done a terrible job with character development and I'd say it's why many have not been able to get into the last few seasons. It's not the number of teams either that is the problem. Survivor has no problem at quickly building up characters and they often have 20 people playing. I usually know everyone by name after an episode or two but it's been a long time since TAR has been like that. Too much focus on casting stunts and not enough on the actual people. Hopefully this time is different.
