Well, another huge mistake by Justin finally ended his dream. I wasn't
surprised to see a team lose because of cab but not in this way. Why would
he let his cab go in what looked like the middle of nowhere? And why would
he worry about $100 on the last leg? Horrible mistake that definitely cost
him and Diana the race. But they did win a ton of prizes and $25K which
isn't bad for 21 days of work. Joey and Kelsey's "bad" luck finally ended
and they ran a very good last leg. I'd love to know how far behind Chris and
Logan were. Their flag screw up was embarrassing. It looked like even the
boat captain thought they were idiots.

I skipped through this ep in about 15 minutes. Those damn cabs. Agree
that superfan Justin missed another call. It's the last leg, you keep
your cabbie you give him all the money you have and promise him a spot
on national TV.

3rd place team should have kept going with winner's cab. That was the
game right there.

Belmont? Never heard of it? You gots to be kidding me.

I don't think the cab driver would have left Joey and Kelsey behind because
they hadn't paid him yet. At least that's what I heard Kelsey say.

I thought it was kind of bizarre that one cab driver was out there and
didn't want another fare. What was he doing out there if he didn't want any
business? And I'm sure someone could have told him where Belmont was.

That was what I couldn't figure out. Cab drivers must be asked to go
to places that they don't know all the time so they should be used to
finding directions. It seems like for some reason that driver really
did not want another fare that day. Maybe he has a bad case of the
runs and needed to find a bathroom quick but didn't want to say it on
camera? ;)

I watched Rob Cesternino's TAR finale podcast last night and Jess talked
about this. She said it's possible the cab driver didn't want to go to
Belmont because he'd probably end up going back empty. She didn't buy that
he didn't know where Belmont is. She said cabbies in NYC plead ignorance all
the time if they don't want to take you somewhere. She also said the race
was probably decided as soon as the two teams lost their cabs. According to
her it's a 45 minute bus ride to the Upper East Side (I think that's what
she said) from Randall's Island which is where the fire academy is located.

What's with all of the "#" marks? Ya think you're in one
of your "social media" groups? This is Usenet. We don't need
no "#".

Usenet was "social media" before the term was invented. If Usenet hadn't
existed for 30 years, the commercial types wouldn't have those
thirty years of "networking" to Disneyfy.

The sad part is that this stuff is now ruling life in general, so people
talk in terms of hashtags and such.

ANy time something is every day, one should be suspicious of it.

For better or worse hashtags are big and used everywhere. They're also
useful for search purposes. You can find out a lot by doing a quick two
second hashtag search.

I thought the one driver said he was going home. And/or one said yes, he had GPS
but didn't use it or didn't know how to use it.

Justin and Diana walked right across the street from a small group waiting for a bus
and certainly could have asked to use a cell phone to call a cab.

I think before the cab debacle, Justin was just high on cockiness (NOT confidence).

What didn't make sense is that both drivers decided it was better to
abandon them there and go back likely empty to "civilization" than take
the riders back to somewhere and get paid for it. They coudl say "Hey,
I'm tired of this Race nonsense, I'll take you to where you can get
anotehr cab", and at least they'd not have an empty cab to that point.

Did they even have an "extra" $100? I'm sure the producers didn't figure that into the allowance they were given.

They must have because at one point Diana said to Justin "why didn't you
just give him the extra $100?"

I think they won more than $25K cash. They won $31K (or $34K, can't remember
exactly) in the FitBit challenge...a dollar for each step. Plus one other first
place for cash.

Perhaps they meant $25k for finishing 2nd which I believe is the
runner-up amount.

That's what I meant. I forgot about the Fitbit money. Throw that into the
mix and they don't have too much to complain about. They should have been
out the leg before but lucked out because Krista couldn't see under water.
