And so we come to the end of another season of TAR. Let's hope it's set
up right and teams have a chance to overtake another. As with every
other season it seems, it will probably come down to whom ever has the
better cabbie.

All teams are on the same flight to Chicago and are being pampered in
Premium Class. Once they land in ChiTown they must visit Chicagoland
Speedway.

Brooke/Scott are first out of the airport. They make note that the other
teams brought their backpacks with them and that might slow them down.

Arriving at the Speedway, Brooke/Scott open up their clue to find a
Route Marker - Start Your Engines.

One team member must remove the nuts and wheel from a stock car and put
new nuts on in under 40 seconds. Their teammate must then complete a lap
in under 48 seconds using said car.

Brooke is tasked with removing the wheel and nuts and in typical Brooke
fashion starts to lose it right away. Tara/Joey show up in second
followed by Logan/London.

With a calm Scott behind the wheel advising her, Brooke finishes the
task on her 4th try. Joey does it on his first try.

It takes Scott a couple of tries but he finishes the lap in under 48
seconds first. He and Brooke must now go to the Monroe Street Station in
downtown Chicago. One of the few-below ground stops on the elevated
train network, they must find someone with their next clue there.

Tara and Logan both complete their laps under 48 seconds.

After finding the person with their next clue at the subway station,
Brooke/Scott must solve 3 riddles and identify 3 local landmarks -
Chicago Water Tower, Buckingham Fountain, Wabash Avenue Bridge - picking
up postcards from people at those landmarks and putting them together to
find their next destination.

Tara/Joey arrive just as they are reading their clue. All teams take
different routes to the 3 landmarks. Brooke/Scott run to the water tower
and Tara/Joey hit the fountain. Logan/London pick up their landmarks
clue and are off to the bridge first.

Brooke/Scott get all their postcards and off to the City Hall garden
which is located on the roof where they will receive their next clue
from a beekeeper.

London/Logan are in 2nd after getting all their postcards.

Brooke starts to freak out. Tara/Joey cannot find the water tower and
are in third.

At the garden on the City Hall's roof, Brooke/Scott are told to go to
the restaurant Wrigleyville Dogs. Once there they find out they must
deliver 10 hot dogs to fans sitting on a nearby apartment rooftop. When
they complete this they will receive their next clue.

Tara/Joey get their clue from the beekeeper before London/Logan.

Brooke/Scott complete the hot dog task and they are told to go to the
front of Wrigley Field.

Tara/Joey start delivering hot dogs.

The final challenge of this leg is a memory task involving the manual
scoreboard of the baseball stadium. One team member must communicate the
position their team finished in on a certain leg of the race and the
other team member must place that number on the scoreboard.

London/Logan arrive at Wrigleyville.

Tara/Joey deliver the hot dogs and Brooke spots them with binoculars.

Brooke's memory of where they finished is good and they meet at home
plate where an umpire gives them their next clue.

They must solve a mathematical equation using where they finished on
certain legs. For Brooke/Scott they had to subtract their placement in
Ninh Binh from that in Dar es Salaam, Panama City minus Venice and
Athens plus Seoul. The number they got was 504 and in that section of
Wrigley Field will be their final clue.

Brooke/Scott find their last clue and are off to Milton Lee Olive Park,
the last pit stop and a chance to win 1 million dollars.

Tara/Joey finish their scoreboard task and so do London/Logan.

Never giving up the lead they started with out of the airport
Brooke/Scott arrive at the pit stop in first place and win 1 million
dollars.

Tara/Joey are second and London/Logan show up to close the show out.

Shades of season 3? Brooke who broke down several times during the
season came through when it was needed. Flo redux!

Season 30 is a go and TAR will once again return. Most likely in the
spring of 2018 but if a show fails early it might show when needed. Just
like Flo...er, Brooke.

And so we come to the end of another season of TAR. Let's hope it's set up

I've kind of been out of it this Race, I fell asleep a few times,
including one of the double-episode nights. It's not the 10pm time that
makes me fall asleep, it's waiting around till 10pm that lets it happen.

So I've missed episodes and haven't participated here much, but I do
appreciate you taking the time to create these recaps. It's not just to
catch up on what I missed, but it does help the newsgroup, even if it may
not appear as if it did.

My problem wasn't falling asleep but just forgetting the show was on.
I might see that the show was on when I looked at a schedule on Wed,
but by 10PM Thursday night when there was nothing on before TAR on CBS
that I wanted to watch, I would have forgotten the show was on. That
wouldn't have been an issue if the show was on at 8PM or maybe even at
9PM but by 10PM I would have gotten involved in something else. Either
another show on another channel or a book or a game or something else
and just not remember to tune in for TAR.

Ugh. Could there have been a less deserving winner? What a disappointing
finish. Is there a lesson here for future contestants, like "don't help other
teams with their tasks at roadblocks?"

What struck me most about this season is that, had I not known beforehand, I
never would have guessed these were ad hoc teams that didn't know each other
before the race. They cooperated and worked together -- or didn't -- in ways
that seemed indistinguishable from teams that were long-time
friends/relatives/partners.

What struck me was the white woman and black man team, was his name Floyd?
They really seemed to get along, and either they were very adaptive to the
other, or they just happened to be similar to begin with. They seemed to
be in the same place in terms of having fun while they tried to win. They
were the ones who one the skydiving fast forward, and they were equally
and similarly exited when they discovered it was skydiving.

Not only was it shades of S3 with Brooke/Flo but it was Vietnam again
and the same bike challenge.

Future all-star/second chances team for sure. There was only 1 moment
where they not get along and that was the lost ID where Becca wanted to
slug him which didn't look good on tv or so i thought.
