Blurb from Variety today on TV ratings from last night.

On CBS, the Season 30 premiere of “The Amazing Race” (1.6, 7.3 million) was up over 70 percent in both measures compared to last season’s opener. It was also the show’s best premiere since September 2013. “SEAL Team” (0.9, 5.9 million) returned down in both measures. “Criminal Minds” (0.9, 5.4 million) was even.

I haven't checked to see if there are more up-to-date figures but what a huge improvement. The show was also trending all evening during both coast's premieres.

Wait did it start?
It did. First episode was last night. I believe there's going to be eight episodes in total with no NELs. I'm not positive about this but I've heard there's going to be two 2-hour episodes. I take it the finale will be two hours.

I thought the first episode was good and the cast doesn't seem bad at all. The first country they went to didn't hurt either.

The weekly ratings are out and TAR is listed as finishing tied for 11th for the week in the 18-49 age group (though in actual number of viewers in that age group they were 12th). That was their best showing since April 2013 (TAR 22). They were tied for 11th with Ghosted and Family Guy which had their best ratings of the season after following an NFL playoff game on FOX. Interestingly, their viewership in all age groups was 17th and usually they have done better in overall viewers in the past than in 18-49 (if I'm remembering correctly). It's a very hopeful start to the season.
